With my conversations with Ms. Jenkins, I learn a lot...I learned to be a hero to stop others [from hate crimes]. I am truly sorry for what I have done...I hope to prove this through my actions. Thank you, Ms. Jenkins for enlightening me and helping me better myself.

GRATEFUL STUDENT

Ms. Joan Stein Jenkins has made a meaningful and lasting impact on our son who was facing both academic and personal challenges... she helped our son recognize the link between his current choices and the long-term consequences he may face.

K.L., M.Ed.

We have immense gratitude for our experience with Joan. Navigating the complexities of the juvenile diversion process and subsequent legal proceedings for our son was a daunting prospect, but Joan's exceptional guidance and unwavering support proved truly invaluable. Joan's understanding of the juvenile court system, her empathy—she was a steady anchor during a challenging period.

Joan Stein Jenkins

Joan Stein Jenkins is the founder of two recognized Restorative Justice initiatives: the Juvenile Diversion Project (JDP) and OnPath Mediation and Legal Services. She pioneered juvenile diversion in the South Bay and created a school-based dispute resolution curriculum that continues to shape students today.

Through JDP, Joan supports teens facing legal or school challenges with personalized plans that draw on mentors, educators, therapists, and Restorative Justice practitioners. She is known for helping young people rediscover their worth and place in the community. The results are lasting: over 1,000 youth have improved their behavior, empathy, and relationships—most avoiding criminal or school records entirely.

Building on JDP’s success, Joan launched OnPath Mediation, bringing restorative principles to adults, families, and teens navigating conflict or legal matters. Whether working with a struggling teen, a family in crisis, or a child facing criminal charges, Joan offers compassionate, credible alternatives that empower individuals and restore community trust.

JDP is more than lip service: her powerful restorative methods have been equally successful with adults, teens, and families in her OnPath strategies and expertise.
